Dermapen Microneedling

Microneedles stimulate skin’s own healing mechanism to repair and heal revealing new skin underneath. The treatment is extremely effective with the conditions like acne scars, stretch marks, sun damage and skin hyperpigmentation, wrinkles and lines. While microneedling, individually tailored serums are used to achieve the required results. The serum contains skin nutrients: vitamins, minerals, hyaluronic acid, antioxidants and aminoacids.

Benefits

3 and 6 treatments 4-6 weeks apart are needed. Most patients report a visible improvement after the first two weeks and skin becomes smoother, softer and looks fresher with the real changes taking place from about 12 weeks. Skin quality continues to improve for up to nine months and collagen and elastin production continue up to two years after the treatment.

The treatment

Numbing cream is applied 20 minutes before the treatment to make the experience as comfortable as possible. Microneedling treatment is relatively pain free and feels like a light vibrating sensation on the skin, with very light pressure applied or a little ‘hoover’, and some patients describe it as quite pleasant and relaxing. Medical grade treatment needles are better quality and faster than others causing less discomfort to the skin.

Aftercare

Microneedling side effects can include redness, dryness, itching or irritation as well as swelling, tightness, peeling or scabbing. Over the first few days post-treatment, skin may look flaky as the outermost surface peels off to make room for radiant, new skin.

Moisturise and hydrate regularly
Apply sunscreen with SPF30 or more
Avoid strenuous workouts, dry saunas and steam rooms
Don’t over-exfoliate
